The Single Trap: The Two-Step Guide to Escaping it and Finding Lasting Love

By Andrew G. Marshall

You have a great circle of friends but when it comes to finding that someone special, does it feel like a disaster zone?

If your relationships never seem to go anywhere, you keep falling for the wrong guy or woman or you’ve just come out of a long term relationship and worry that nobody will love you again, you’re ready for a revolutionary new approach that digs deeper than most dating books and gets to the bottom of what’s been going wrong.

You don’t need to be terminally single

It’s really positive that you’ve recognised the problem and you’re ready to do something about it. I’ve spent thirty years counselling people like you to understand why they find relationships difficult, combat their fears and learn to relax and enjoy themselves. Instead of giving advice on how to attract more men or pick up girls, I’m interested in getting you to the place where you can let the right lover in.

Who is the book for?

I am used to helping both men and women who can’t find love. I also have gay and lesbian clients who’ve found my approach useful. It is also helpful for people coming out of long-term relationships – who haven’t been on a date in years – and are feeling nervous or put their toe in the water and got it bitten off!

How does my programme work?

The Single Trap is a two-step approach to finding lasting love. In part one, I help you look back at your first ever relationship (with your mother and father) which helped shape your expectations of love. I also introduce a key idea: If you’re in a good place you’ll attract people who’re in a similarly good place. Unfortunately, the opposite comes into play and that makes relationships harder and more complicated.

I will help you feel more balanced, combat the problems of being long term single and learn to like yourself again. In part two, I offer advice on how to meet the right sort of people and know if this new man or woman is a keeper or not.

Learn these vital skills

  • Step back and look at your dating patterns and recognise what doesn’t work
  • Avoid repeating the same mistakes
  • Spot whether someone is right for you or not
  • Combat the behaviour that pushes good people away

Why did I write this book?

There was a need for something compassionate that understands the pressures that society (and from ourselves) to pair off and how much more difficult it is to find love today. So I wrote a chapter on the history of dating and put the current explosion of single people in a historical context.

On a personal note, I didn’t manage to find a lasting relationship until I was thirty. So I know from personal experience how tough it can be. I also wanted to use my experience as a marital therapist and the latest psychological research to help you get out of the single trap and find love.

Reviews

“This is the best book on relationships I have ever read (and I have read a lot!). It is not a book about ‘dating’, which is a real positive, as many books I have read about male/female relationships are about ‘how to play the game’. This book is about being comfortable with yourself and being ready for a relationship.

The book is very well written. I can’t recommend it enough – I couldn’t put it down. Thank you Andrew Marshall – I wish I had read this book ten years ago!
